Airport transit visa (ATV, type A)

Article 2(5) defines the airport transit visa as "a visa valid for transit through the international transit areas of one or more airports of the Member States". Article 3 lists the nationalities that need one for any Schengen airport transit (Annex IV) and lets individual states extend the requirement; Indian nationals are not on the common Annex IV list, and the European Commission's consulate data for India shows ATV numbers close to zero every year. Our headline figures exclude ATVs; the CSV includes them.
