Multiple-entry visa (MEV)

Article 24(1) allows a visa "for one, two or multiple entries". Article 24(2) sets the cascade under which MEVs "shall be issued": one year after three visas lawfully used within two years, two years after a one-year MEV, five years after a two-year MEV; Article 24(2c) allows up to five years for proven frequent travellers. The "share of MEVs" in the European Commission's statistics is the share of visas issued that were multiple-entry; it is one of the columns we rank on, and it varies from under 20% to over 99% by state for applications lodged in India.
